We have curated those venues over years of research and experience.

Today, we'll share them with you.

1. What we should consider when planning a Beach Wedding in Sicily, Italy

1.1 Religious, Civil or Symbolic Beach Ceremony. Which one is possible?

Let's start from the first and foremost question: under which conditions is possible to have a beach wedding?

Sicily allows beach weddings since 2013. All around Sicily, only some beaches can be rented for the celebration of weddings for a fee to the local council. Needless to say, the ritual can be only Civil or Symbolic. To be fair, even a civil ceremony on the beach is quite restricting, as there is a lot of planning to find a suitable government official willing to take their shoes off and celebrate your union on the beach!

This means you can incorporate your own rituals, and your friends and relatives can contribute to making it special! For more details on the different types of ceremonies, refer to the article

Weather, Winds, and Waves - Planning for Optimal Success at Your Beach Wedding

Sicily boasts a temperate climate, graced with approximately 300 days of sunshine annually. Nonetheless, it is imperative to acknowledge that, despite the prevalence of sunny days, certain locales within the provinces of Palermo and Syracuse are subject to persistent strong winds throughout the year (imagine hair and sand flying, nope, nope, nope).

In light of these conditions, it becomes crucial to possess an in-depth understanding of the regional climatic variations. A local planner can help you with this.

Another consideration to make concerns about is the sea.

The seas surrounding Sicily are globally renowned for their aesthetic appeal. However, they are also characterized by deep waters which, under turbulent conditions, may pose risks, particularly to the most vulnerable such as the young and elderly. While the probability of encountering such adverse maritime conditions is low, it remains a critical factor to bear in mind when planning a beach wedding.

For the rain, like all outdoor celebrations, we can only hope to be lucky – although here I must say that in summer the rainfalls in Sicily are quite rare.

1.2 Let's explore some Beach Wedding Venues, pristine beaches and beach resorts

When picturing your beach wedding, do you envision an intimate, pristine island or a lively beach club? Chances are, you might lean towards a secluded beach, away from the crowds, where you can celebrate your union surrounded only by your closest loved ones.

It's important to consider that choosing such a remote location can entail higher costs due to the transportation of equipment, flowers, and the setup of electricity and other amenities to ensure comfort for you and your guests. However, the breathtaking results often justify the effort!

Fortunately, Sicily offers an abundance of both options, along with some excellent hybrid solutions. We will delve into these in greater detail in the next section:

2. How much does a beach Wedding cost in Sicily?

Like any wedding, a magical beach ceremony in Sicily involves some budgeting. Let's dive into the costs involved, so you can plan your perfect day without any financial surprises.

Beach Wedding Venue:

  • Beachfront bliss: Public beaches in Sicily are free to use, but setting up decorations and catering might require permits. For exclusive access and amenities, private beach venues cost around €2,000-€5,000 per day.
  • Clifftop charm: Hotels and resorts perched on Taormina's cliffs offer stunning views and private beach access. Ceremony and reception packages can range from €3,000-€10,000, depending on the venue and season.

Food and Drinks:

  • Catering delights: Fresh seafood, sun-ripened tomatoes, and local delicacies – Sicilian wedding menus are a feast for the senses! Expect to spend €100-€150 per guest for a sit-down dinner or €50-€80 for a buffet.
  • Drinks to raise a toast: Wines from Mount Etna's slopes and refreshing cocktails will keep the celebration flowing. Budget €20-€40 per guest for drinks.

Making Your Love Story Sparkle:

  • Floral magic: Bouquets, floral arches, and table arrangements infused with Mediterranean blooms can cost €3000-€5,000, depending on your desired scale and complexity.
  • Music to your ears: Live bands, DJs, or a string quartet can set the mood. Expect to pay €1000-€1,500 for musical entertainment.

Remember, these are just estimates! Your final costs will depend on your guest list size, chosen venue, desired level of detail, and preferred vendors.

Top Tip: Consider off-season months like April-May or September-October for lower venue fees and potentially better deals with vendors.
